The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) has handed out the largest jackpot ever won at a SIGA Casino.
Jacqueline Ironstand-Bird, a furniture sales entrepreneur from Prince Albert, SK, was excited to call her daughter immediately after winning the $1,953,049.35 on SIGA’s Smoke Signals Jackpot. “Your Dad and I are Millionaires!” she exclaimed happily.
Smoke Signals is a SIGA-wide mystery progressive jackpot that links 44 slot machines at all six casinos. There are three mystery jackpot tiers that increase over time, with specific starting and ending point prize values. The largest mystery jackpot has a minimum value of $1,000,000 and pays out before it hits $2,000,000. Each time a patron plays a Smoke Signals slot machine, any of the jackpots could be triggered.
SIGA’s President and CEO Zane Hansen was quick to note, “I could not be more pleased. I know the excitement around the Smoke Signals jackpot has been growing for some time now and I, along with our SIGA Board and employees, would like to give our whole-hearted congratulations to the winner, Jacqueline Ironstand-Bird.”
“We appreciate the enthusiasm shown for the Smoke Signals Jackpot, and we have been eager to see which of our six casinos would experience a patron winning it. I can say I was certainly pleased to see someone win it at the Northern Lights Casino.”
Richard Ahenakew, General Manager at the Northern Lights Casino in Prince Albert. Smoke Signals is Saskatchewan’s largest progressive mystery jackpot. The second tier mystery jackpot known as “The Dreamer” has awarded winnings totalling over 1.4 million to 29 patrons in less than a year. The last time the main jackpot was won was in March 2014, when Doris Staflund, a registered nurse, won $1,159,434. Smoke Signals jackpot has now been reset to one million dollars and can be won at any time.
