Fried or Crushed Chokecherries

Fried or Crushed Chokecherries
2 Tbsp lard
Chokecherries
Sugar
Water
Flour
Berries can either be crushed in a meat grinder or cooked whole and mashed when cooked. Melt the lard in a frying or sauce pan, add the chokecherries, sugar, water and flour to taste. Cook slowly for about a half hour until the mixture resembles a paste consistency. Delicious with cream. Can be eaten warm or cold. Can also be put into sealers and stored for later use. In days gone by, the chokecherry paste was made into patties and dried for later use.
