Legendary Islanders visit Whitecap

The Whitecap Dakota First Nation recently hosted some legendary New York Islanders in their community. Clarke Gillies, Bob Bourne and Bryan Trottier came out to the community to help raise funds for youth sports. Trottier took time while he was at Whitecap to head up the road to the Round Prairie cemetery where Shirley Isbister showed him where some of his Métis ancestors were buried. The hockey heroes partook in street hockey games with the kids and then attended a banquet where they spoke and had a Q&A and then pulled out their guitars and performed. The trio got into some country tunes and even Chief Darcy Bear got up on stage and showed his singing chops.
