Candidates announced for FSIN Chief, Vice Chiefs

The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) Credentials Committee has announced the candidates for the Office of the Chief, the Office of the First Vice Chief, and the Office of the Third Vice Chief. In a stunner, the positions of First and Third Vice Chief were acclaimed by incumbents Kim Jonathan and Dutch Lerat. They will be formally acclaimed during the fall Legislative Assembly at TCU Place in Saskatoon, October 28 and 29, 2015. Interim Chief Jonathan and Vice Chief Lerat will continue their duties until that time.
The candidates, in alphabetical order, for the Office of the Chief are:
1) Helen Ben from the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.
2) Robert (Bobby) Cameron from the Witchekan Lake First Nation, and
3) Leo Omani from the Wahpeton Dakota First Nation
A by-election for the Office of the Second Vice Chief, vacated by Bobby Cameron who is running for Chief, will also be held during the fall Legislative Assembly on October 28 and 29, 2015. Candidates for the Office of the Second Vice Chief must submit the required documentation set out in the FSIN Election Act by October 5, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. A list of candidates for the Office of Second Vice Chief will be released on or shortly after October 5th.
