It is with sadness the family of Gregory Cook announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the age of 42 years.
Greg was born in Loon Lake, SK. He grew up in Onion Lake, but spent his young adult life on the blood reserve (Kainai). Greg moved back to his home community to pursue his occupation as the Onion Lake housing director. He was also recently employed with Capital Projects as a project manager.
Greg was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, golfing, and quadding. He was also a carpenter and a backyard mechanic. He was passionate about mechanics and eventually followed that passion to become a civil engineer. Greg faced many obstacles but overcame them and was victorious. His daughters, the loves of his life Taya and Jarica will forever love and cherish their hero.
Greg is survived by daughters Taya (Noah Weaselbear) Cook and Jarica Cook; granddaughter Brynlee Lewis; mother of Taya: Jarica; companion for 20 years; Shanelle Healy; father Gilbert Brownhat; grandmother Georgette (Pet) Fox; brothers Christopher Cook, Jordie Cook, Clyde Cook, Justin Brownhat (Tianna Benson); sister Waverly Cook (Dale Pahtayken); brothers-in-law Kelly Fox-Zacharias, Kennedy Fox-Zacharias, Kale Fox-Zacharias; aunts Ruby Cook, Delma Cook, Pauline Wolf, Barbara Chief, Linda Stanley, Pearl Cook, Verna Cook, and Judy Cook; Uncles Noel Cook, Clifford Cook, Howard Cook, Raymond (Ellie) Cook, Burton Brownhat, Donald Brownhat, Howard Brownhat, Gifford Fox, Elliot Fox and Jason Fox; mother-in-law: Shauna Fox and special mention to Tara Waskewitch and son abian Clarke.
He is predeceased by mother Marlene Cook; son Andy Cook; grandparents; Maggie and Edwin Cook, Andrew Brownhat, and grandma Pet; auntie Michelle Cook; and nephew Matteo Cook.
A Wake will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Onion Lake Communiplex, Onion Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Onion Lake Communiplex, Onion Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan.
