Edna Rita Pachapis

Edna Rita Pachapis was born on October 9, 1945, to Sarah Pachapis and Alex Pachapis. She was raised in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan, where she spent her life surrounded by family, friends, and community. Edna attended Onion Lake Residential School, where she would later meet Allan Jimmy, the father of her children.
Edna passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Makwa Saghaiehcan First Nation, Saskatchewan at the age of 80 years.
Edna cherished spending time outdoors, scrolling through Facebook, preparing cultural meals, and gathering with family. She found great joy in visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart. She was blessed with many friendships, and she always appreciated the visits from those who took the time to spend with her.
Edna was known for her kindness, wisdom, and willingness to share her guidance with others. She took great pride in offering advice and support to anyone who would listen, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her words of encouragement and the love she showed to her family will continue to be treasured.
Edna is predeceased by her father, Alex Pachapis (1978); her mother, Sarah Pachapis (2015); her common-law partner, Allan Jimmy (2020); her daughter, Esther (1992); her son, Ronnie (2011); her brother, Johnny (2013); her sister, Eilleen Blyan (1994); and her stepfather, Harry Blackbird (2018).
She leaves to mourn her passing: her children, Shannon (Jordan), Darcy (Marcia), Darlene (Rob), Marlene (Norman), Roseanne, and Vivian (Terry); along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren who will forever carry her memory in their hearts; and her half siblings, Danny, Lloyd Blyan, Edna Blyan, and Bertha Singer.
Edna will be lovingly remembered for her strength, generosity, wisdom, and the love she shared with her family and community. To all who knew her sarcastic humor and witty comebacks, she will be missed greatly.
Edna’s Wake will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Simon and Alma Kytwayhat Community Hall, Makwa Saghaiehcan First Nation, Saskatchewan.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Simon and Alma Kytwayhat Community Hall, Makwa Saghaiehcan First Nation, Saskatchewan.
