Olympics 2014: Double curling gold, men's hockey delivers
- EFN Staff | February 21, 2014
It was another golden day for Canada.
Brad Jacobs and his rink from Northern Ontario defeated Great Britain to win the gold medal in men's curling.
And, with Jennifer Jones' win last night, Canada becomes the first country to ever win both Olympic curling events.
"To get double gold for Canada and be the first ever, we're very proud of that," said Jacobs.
Marielle Thompson and Kelsey Serwa added to the medal total by winning gold and silver respectively in the women's ski cross event.
Later, Charles Cournoyer would add a bronze in the men's 500m short track speed skating.
And, the men's hockey team lived up to their female counterparts, as they defeated the United States 1-0 in the semi-finals.
Team Canada now faces Sweden Sunday morning in the gold medal game.
Canada's medal total now stands at 9 gold, 10 silver, and 5 bronze, tying the number of medals it won at the 2006 Olympics in Turin.
Canada won 26 medals in Vancouver, including 14 gold.
