Eagle Feather News is an independent business. We proudly sponsor a variety of communities and events in Saskatchewan including the First Nation Summer and Winter Games, Team Saskatchewan North American Indigenous Games, Back to Batoche, Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre and many other grass root and non-profit organizations. As well, our staff contribute their time and energy to worthy causes, speaking in schools and generally helping to build a better community.

Kerry Benjoe is from the Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation and lives in Regina, with a journalism career that spans nearly two decades. In 2002, she produced her first freelance article for Eagle Feather News. Four years later she was hired by the Regina Leader Post where she became the first Indigenous reporter hired full time in the paper’s history. Kerry spent 13 years there as a general assignment reporter where she covered every news beat from sports to federal politics, but always maintained a strong interest in Indigenous stories. In 2019, she attended the University of Regina where she received her Master of Journalism. Last year, Kerry was recruited by CBC after her stint as a student. Earlier this year, she became CBC Saskatchewan’s first Indigenous Storyteller. Kerry is thankful for the opportunities of the past and is looking forward to the future and being part of a new team. She plans to take her years of experience as a reporter and storyteller to expand the readership of Saskatchewan’s leading Indigenous newspaper by continuing to tell great stories.

Ben Borne is from Yellow Quill First Nation and is a co-owner of SymmetryPR – a multi-award winning Indigenous-owned communications consultancy based out of Saskatoon. He is Canada’s first self-identified Indigenous ISO-certified Communications Management Professional (CMP). He is a Sessional Instructor at First Nations University of Canada in the areas of strategic communications and is currently working on his Master of Arts in Professional Communication at Royal Roads University. In 2020, he was named to the list of one CBC Saskatchewan’s Future 40 in the entrepreneurship category. Ben is excited to build on the legacy of the paper with the ultimate goal of creating more caring and connected communities through storytelling.

Errol Sutherland is from Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation and is currently the Digital and Social Media Strategist for Eagle Feather News and the owner of Toxic Cree – a digital marketing agency serving Saskatchewan’s First Nations. Prior to his employment with Eagle Feather News and starting his own business, Sutherland worked for Creative Fire and the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT). He is a graduate of SIIT and brings extensive experience in digital marketing and design to the table. Errol grew up reading the paper and he sees it as a vital part of the community. He is proud to step in as one of the new owners to help carry the publication into the future.

John Lagimodiere is the President of ACS Aboriginal Consulting Services and the former Editor/Publisher of Eagle Feather News. John is continuing to support the new Eagle Feather News ownership team in an advisory role until March of 2022. John has hosted the award-winning national radio show, As If, on CBC Radio. John has delivered Aboriginal awareness training to clients ranging from the Saskatoon Police Service, Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, Provincial Court Judges, Cameco Corporation and the University of Saskatchewan. John is a recipient of the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal and was honoured with a Living in Harmony Award from the City of Saskatoon in 2006. ACS received the ABEX for Aboriginal Business in 2009.
