Dad worked hard his whole life. He made a living out of trapping, fencing for local farmers, he worked in the community at various jobs. He loved to travel, most of the time, it was for our games in high school, FSIN, Summer/Winter games, NAIG. He was one of our biggest supporters and you would always find him sitting on the sidelines, cheering at all the games we attended. They did that until he could no longer do that. He also liked to travel with his sister Rosie and Paul Chief. Vegas, California, etc. those trips were always in his fondest memories.

He was a quiet and content man, someone who didn’t need many words to show his happiness. His gentle smile spoke volumes, reflecting the deep love he held for his family. He found his greatest joy in family gatherings and cultural events, especially when his children from up north came for a visit. Those moments, surrounded by laughter and loved ones, meant everything to him.

He cherished every single moment spent with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Family was the center of his world, and he made each person feel special in his own unique way. Known for never calling relative by their names, he instead lovingly referred to everyone by their place in the family—something that will be remembered with warmth and smiles.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready with a joke to make others laugh. Even in quiet moments, his presence brought comfort and light to those around him.

He shared a love story that will never be forgotten. He never wanted to leave mom’s side and often told her so, right up until he grew tired. Together, they stood side by side through life, — helping, supporting, and loving one another every step of the way. They were truly soulmates, bound by a quiet, enduring love that inspired everyone around them.

As he grew older, visiting became more difficult, but his love for his family never wavered. He remained strong, respectful, and brave throughout his life, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, humility, and love.

A couple weeks before he left us Dad would often have dreams. One of the dreams was about his late older brother Gilbert they were at their parent’s old place with their horses. Gilbert was on his horse named Snap and Dad had his horse Mable Anne in the field. When he was woken up and asked how he was, he would say I was riding horses. (Making it look like he was holding his bridle ropes). The last dream he had was about his passing, he was mumbling in his sleep and said, “I love you all”. It was his way of letting us know his time was nearing and wanted to leave us with those words of comfort.
