Heart & Stroke Foundation calls for grant applications
- Apply by February 10, 2015
The Heart and Stroke Foundation invites applications for Heart&Stroke My Healthy Community Grants. This round of grant projects will be awarded up to $4,000.
The My Healthy Community Grants program welcomes applications from any persons, not-for-profit organizations or partners from across Saskatchewan to develop projects that will help make healthy changes in their communities, with a particular focus on children, youth and families.
Today in our province, one in four children are overweight and obese, more than half are not active enough for optimal growth and development and Saskatchewan continues to have the highest youth smoking rates in the country. The Heart&Stroke My Healthy Community Grants are a province-wide initiative to inspire individuals, families, communities, businesses and governments to take collective action to help children and youth become more physically active, eat healthier foods and be smoke-free.
“The grant program is part of our Heart Healthy Children & Youth Strategy, which aims to achieve better health for all Saskatchewan families. We are always looking for innovative and inclusive projects and have been lucky to fund some really great ones such as community gardens, after school walking or running clubs, and culturally competent smoking cessation programs. We encourage any organization with a project that supports healthier families to apply,” says Stephanie Cross, Sr. Manager of Health Promotion, Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Those interested can apply for a Heart&Stroke My Healthy Community Grant online starting today at www.heartandstroke.ca/communities. Applications close at noon on February 10, 2015.
